Volunteer of the Month
June 2011
Two names for the sunny month of June, both being rewarded.
The bright personality of Beatrice Hatton has seen many people put her name forward. Beatrice really has supported the club over the recent months, her smile, willingness to help others and support of many of the events throughout the month, including door duties at the 3 Counties (she missed some of the racing) the support at the clubs Level 3 meeting, the door / raffle and warm-up marshall, aswel as the home Four Seasons gala. She and her family leave us shortly, they will all be missed. Beatrice was awarded her silver plate at the well attended Club Championships and the round of applause from the stands said everything!
Georgina Bartman, ended her role as open meeting organizer. The Level 3 gala was one of the best to date, her commitment in getting it right for the swimmers on the day and the months of preparation go a long way to making things a success! Liaison with 30 odd visiting clubs, 400 pus swimmers to enter trying to please everyone, not easy however recognized by those that put her name forward and the feedback from visiting clubs.
Thank you to all of you, who have put names forward during the season.

April 2011
I have a feeling that people are starting to appreciate, what we are trying to do in recognizing our volunteers. With the Gloucester City swimmers dominating many of the events at the counties during March, it is the help our members provided to the proceedings that made up this month’s nominations.
This month had the Committee split on who should get the award , and have decided to go with two worthy winners. Alan Keeble & Paul Carter
Not sure if it was 'planned' but we think Alan has taken a fancy to the world of MC. Alan once again supported the Counties as announcer and was awarded with a silver plate, for several weekends work keeping things on time and in order.
Paul Carter many of you know stands on poolside / in the stands taking in the atmosphere and checking results, who has done what and in what event.. we also know he likes a chat! Well he put all that to good use and spent the majority of his spare time writing in access of 15,000 plus words giving us the tales of the County Championships, NOT ONE session but every session.. It kept many of us entertained. Anyone spot the theme of story titles?
Other nominations came in for Adette Lodge & Karen Willis, the ladies kept everyone in control and ready for their races as County Swimmer Stewards. Their efforts contributed to the right swimmers being in the right place at the right time also keeping some of our own swimmers calm.
Thank you to you all.

March 2011
A busy month saw many of our membership put forward names that they felt worthy of the award.
The member who collected the award for March was Mandy Alcock. Mandy has played a major part working away in the background to provide the relevant evidence for our Swim 21 Acreditiation. This being a recognition of best practice based on ASA guidelines. Mandy carried out the re-validation of all policies and procedures over a two month period relating to the how we run the club against a list of expected results supplied by the ASA. Regular liasion with the ASA and Committee saw the club successful in its re-validation.
Other nominations included, Emily Piddington for her continued poolside support of swim skills sessions, even though she had her leg braced.
Alan Keeble for his last minute support at the Glouucestershire Counties as "the announcer", not for the anticipated odd session , but the whole day and a grand job he did!
Well done to all of you and thanks

Di Claxton was your nominated winner. Di accepted a silver plate as a small token of appreciation and thanks.
The sterling work Di does in keeping the poolside shop running on a Sunday evening is of great help , especially to many of our new swimmers. The background activities of ordering and stocktaking are unseen by many but is essential work in keeping many swimmers and parents at ease with thier purchase.
Other nominations included 'Big Steve' for being Steve and always smiling! James Richards for his volunteer coaching commitments and also chaperone support from Marian Limbird at the Counties.
Please remember anyone can nominate or be nominated for the suport they give to the club.
