Gala Reports are written on a volunteer basis, the same as many of the activities are within the club. The gala reports are an ideal way of letting people know how well we are doing , what the atmosphere was like and what the experience was for our swimmers at various events.
The gala report information that appears on the website is only as good as what is supplied by you the Member, if information is not written and sent it will not get published. We are also working towards getting regular "reports" published in the local newspaper, the more we have the better the chance we have to get it into print.
Please do not wait for others to supply the details send your gala report today to chairman@gloucestercityswimmingclub.co.uk

New Faces
No not some new talent show. Swimmers ask your parents or grandparents.. no its not Britains got Talent!
Over the coming week , you will see some additional new faces on poolside supporting the coaching team and swimmers.
Andy Davies has joined the coaching team. Andy has recently moved into the Gloucester area and wanted to get back into coaching after his 14 years at Cardiff City SC. Andy is a Level 3 coach and has joined us as a volunteer and will initially be working with the TC8 group of swimmers. Make yourself known to him, say hello.
Other volunteers you will see on a more regular basis over the coming weeks are the GCSC Young Volunteers . They will be supporting the coaching team on poolside with some of our younger swim squads, this is all part of the ASA scheme for 14 - 25 year olds. We have 12 youngsters in total this season paticipating.
Please make Andy and the YV team welcome.

Volunteers Please
To all Parents of Swimmers entered in the GCSC Level 3 Gala on 1st/2nd October:
In order to run a successful swimming gala we need the help of all the swimmers parents. Besides the gala being a fun and competitive event for your children it is also an important fundraising event for the swimming club. The funds raised go towards the running costs of the club; without these funds your swimmer fees would have to increase.
On the notice board by Twyver pool there is a complete list of all the jobs that need to be done over the weekend; poolside drinks, medals, warm up marshall etc. Most can be done with no previous experience and if you’ve not helped before we’ll make sure that you work alongside someone who has. It’s also a great way of getting to know other parents and having a good time supporting the swimmers.
If you have helped out before why not try something different this time, such as:
- working in the control room to help check and prepare the results (also comes with the added bonus of air conditioning!)
- helping to line up the swimmers ready for their event by being a Competitor Steward
- Swimmer registration: new role for this event. Swimmers are required to sign in at the beginning of the day or before each session to confirm that they will still swim the event that they originally entered.
Please have a look at the list and sign up or email me with your offer of help and session time. If you would like more information on any of the roles please email here or speak to me.
Thank you to those have already signed up.

Easter Camp 2012
We are in the very early stages of thinking about a Training Camp in April 2012 during the Easter Holidays.
As the weather will not be overly hot at this time of year and with costs in mind we will intend going back to Malaga in Spain as we can train in the superb indoor facilities there at very reasonable rates.
We are looking for initial numbers of swimmers who may be interested so that we know how to proceed. A rough cost estimate is hoped to be around £600 for the week.
If you are in TTC 16, TTC 12 or T2T and may be interested please sign up on the list on the notice board outside Twyver Pool.
There is absolutely no commitment at this stage.
The Coaches.
Congratulations

Thank You
I have recieved much positve feedback on the May Level 2 from visiting clubs including parents, visiting swimmers, coaches and chairmen over the last week.
We know the numbers of swimmers was down a little, however that did not detract from the organisation that made the event a success.
I would like to extend my thanks to all those that volunteered to help support our meet. Your efforts on the day, or in the back ground leading up to the event made it the success that it was.
Some quotes ..
"It was a pleasure to meet you and attend this weekend and congrats on an event well organised..."
" Well organised and the programme went well each day"
"Our team managers were impressed by their pack they received of pens and sweets!"
"Many of the Halesowen parents commented it was probably the best organised gala we had ever attended."
Well done to everyone, including the swimmers and visiting officials.
You did Gloucester City proud.. Lets do it all again in July.
Marcus Lee

Swim 21
Over the recent couple of months the club has been going through its Swim 21 revalidation process with the ASA.
The process is all about ensuring we are still achiveing 'best practice' based on the tight ASA guidelines.
I can confirm we have been sucessful and have a letter from Alison Usher , Regional Director ASA South West Region confirming our revailidateion status for Swim 21 at Swim Skill Development Level, Competitive Level and Masters Level.
The Swim 21 link is to an article that highlights swim 21 and what it means from a parents perspective.
