Our Club

Gloucester City Swimming Club (GCSC) has been in existence since 1910. It is based in the city of Gloucester, with members of the Club coming from the city and the surrounding towns of North Gloucestershire.

The team swim at GL1 Leisure Centre in the heart of the city. The facilities are of an excellent standard which draws many competitive swimming clubs to the well run Open Meets hosted by the Club.

The Club has an excellent Coaching team who have reached the peak of achievement during their own sporting careers. They have the desire and enthusiasm to get the best out of the swimmers whatever their goals may be.

The Club is focused on the development of swimmers from the age of 8 to early 20s, with a clear objective of attaining the competitive standard of an open meet through to County, Regional, National and International finals. GCSC is a competitive swimming club striving for National success, and as such performance is also acknowledged and celebrated.

We have a supportive Committee (many of them parents of the swimmers) who strive to create a social and friendly environment for our members.

This support and working together has other benefits  – bringing self-confidence, team building and self-discipline to the young swimmer, that will help in the future not just during swimming.

We ask for a commitment to training and in return offer the swimmer a unique chance to develop their confidence and extend their opportunities. Find out more about being part of Team GCSC here.

Our Vision

Our primary objective is to create a fun, positive and happy environment for children and young adults to learn and enjoy competitive swimming. The Club’s secondary objective is to provide swimmers with the right opportunities throughout their development in order to achieve success and fulfil their true potential in competitive swimming.

Gloucester City Swimming Club athletes will be:

  • encouraged to fulfill their potential as an athlete and to develop their personal and life skills
  • encouraged to see that hard work and honest endeavor achieve success
  • taught to understand the value of supporting their team and the value of support from their team
  • constantly challenged with small goals that are within the athlete’s  control – process centered
  • taught to win with humility, lose with resolve and to embrace the commitment to always do their personal best.
